I have been designing and creating precious metal and gemstone custom jewelry for 20 years, now. At first, self taught, then other teachers appeared. Formal study seemed appropriate, and I studied metal work at UTA (Arlington, TX) in 2003-4.
I feel that it is a great honor to be able to work with metals and gemstones, and, to have been lead to this ability. It stimulates the creativity of mind and allows for the leaving something behind...
As well, I am reminded of the sublime connection I have with this earth and, of the magnificent beauty with which I am surrounded, daily. Nature, itself, inspires my designs. Floral, leaf and vine patterns are some of my favorite to incorporate.
The gemstones, themselves, so rich in color, also transmit a vibrant energy which transcends the visual, and inspires union with the other natural elements. It seems to me that they are calling to become united with other earthly elements so as to magnify their own brilliance through the conjugality.
